Bullying Prevention Policy

The USD 420 approved the following Bullying Prevention Policy at last nights Board of Education Meeting. The 2007 Kansas Legislature mandated all Kansas School Districts to develop a Bullying Prevention Policy by January 1, 2008:

The USD 420 Board of Education prohibits bullying in any form on school property, in a school vehicle (school bus, school van, other school vehicle and private vehicle used to transport students or staff members to and from school or any school-sponsored activity or event) or at a school-sponsored activity or event.

Bullying is any intentional gesture or any intentional written, verbal, or physical act or threat that is sufficiently severe, persistent or pervasive that it creates an intimidating, threatening or abusive educational environment for a student or staff member that a reasonable person, under the circumstances, knows or should know will have the effect of:

Harming a student or staff member, whether physically or mentally;
Damaging a student’s or staff member’s property;
Placing a student or staff member in reasonable fear of harm to the student or staff member; or
Placing a student or staff member in reasonable fear of damage to the student’s or staff member’s property;
Or any other form of intimidation or harassment prohibited by any policy of USD 420 Osage City.

Any individual (s) who have bullied others in violation of this policy may be subject to disciplinary action, up to and including suspension and expulsion. If appropriate, students who violate the bullying prohibition shall be reported to local law enforcement.

SCHOOL STARTS AT 9:05 AM THURSDAY

School will be delayed one hour on Thursday, December 13. School will begin at 9:05 a.m. Buses will run one hour late. A light breakfast will be served in the cafeteria.

NO SCHOOL WEDNESDAY

School will not be in session, Wednesday, December 12, because of the winter road conditions.

NO SCHOOL TUESDAY

School will not be in session, Tuesday, December 11, because of the winter weather.

Music Program Cancelled

The Holiday Music Program for tonight (Monday, December 10) has been cancelled.

Activity Updates

The last round of the Central Heights Tournament has been rescheduled for January 12. We will have times at a later date.

The Osage City High School Scholar Bowl has been postponed for today.

If weather conditions warrant for school or activity cancellations, we will use the School Reach system and district web site to inform parents.

Central Heights Tournament

The Basketball Tournament at Central Heights has been cancelled for Saturday.

Games Cancelled for Thursday Night

The Central Heights Basketball Tournament has been cancelled for tonight (Thursday) because of weather conditions in the Kansas City Metro area.

The Junior High Basketball Game with West Franklin has been cancelled for tonight also.
